Disc Golfing Summer 2022

Review of some of the trips we did to explore new disc golf courses both in the city and down in the US.

To start things off local we hiked up the Grouse Grind and played the course there. Very challenging because of the elevation, but also so much fun to see the disc fly down the mountain. The back is not well maintained so we ended up cutting the round short.

The next shot is from the Mylora Golf course in Richmond, who had a disc golf course available for a time. Sadly they are no longer offering it now.

Then further South across the border we started at Fredericksen Wilderness Park near Bremerton in Washington, just North-West of Seattle.Cute little course in the woods with some challenging lines.

After that we continued to NAD Park which is very well maintained and has some cool military exhibits like this airplane

For the final stop opf the day we arrived at Shelton Springs. It was already getting late and it was a bit windy, so we thought we just take a quick look, but we ended up running into the local club who were host a round of Dubs, which we ended up joining. To get your partner you had to pick a card from a deck each and matches were grouped together. As luck would have it JJ and I got grouped together (there were 20+ people). It ended up being a great experience to meet some locals and it's cool to now see the Pro Tour runnign events here.

To spend the night we went a bit further South and stayed aat a casino hotel since they seem to be the cheapest for a decent accomodation.

Next day our destination was Fort Stevens in the South-West. As we were driving along the highway we saw some disc golf baskest on the side of the road. Curiousity got the better of us and when going there an older gentelman called Jay welcomed us. He built a cute little course on his property called Elma Disc Golf and for a small fee we could play a round on his property. He joined us for a while and shared how he built it and the local community they have. Very cool little gem!

Next we finally made it down to Columbia Shore DGC at Fort Stevens. A very cool destination right at the beach in a historic military facility with bunkers and retired cannons. Loved exploring the course.

Next propably the most famous course in Oregon: Milo McIver. This place lives up to its reputation. A beautiful park with tons of long and challenging lines.

Now it was finally time to head back North. The next day we checked out Pier Park in Portland, inside a beautiful Douglas Fir and Red Cedar forest. A real gem we would love to go back to at some point.

That is all for now!
